Acne - What are Papules?
Papules are a form of pimples in simple words. There are several different types of pimples and papules are the one that are considered to be the least dangerous of all. They are usually very small in size and have a conical shape. They usually do not contain any pus in their formation on the skin. It should also be observed that papules are generally painless but can give a irritating feeling when touched.
They are considered as transition phase between a non inflammatory and inflammatory lesion by several dermatologists. Whatever be the type of pimples it is important that they should not be handled directly by fingers and popped. Papules too should not be popped. If they are popped they may cause serious irritating effects on the skin which can aggravate with time. Papules are similar to pustules in all the ways except that pustules may contain pus which a papule doesn’t.
Moreover papules can be much smaller than pustules. Since they are considered as the transition phase between non inflammatory and inflammatory lesions, it is important that adequate care is taken at this phase itself to avoid any bad consequences at a later stage when they turn out to be more serious types.
