  • Can Rosacea and Acne Both Affect the Skin?

Rosacea and acne affect one’s skin in similar ways and can often be mistaken for one another but their symptoms vary slightly. A lot of people with rosacea are not even aware that they are afflicted with it. They chalk their pink, blotchy skin up to extreme blushing or harsh sunburn. Rosacea however, is a chronic skin disease that is tempestuous and can be a source of anguish for those affected by it.  It causes raised red or deep pink areas to develop on the face and often consists of bumps, broken blood vessels or cysts just below the skins surface.

Acne, although commonly thought of as something that only affects teenagers, can affect the skin of older and younger people as well. It can take the form of whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, pustules or cysts on the skin and is uncomfortable as well as embarrassing for those affected by it. Acne varies in extremity and can breakout wherever oil glands are in abundance so it mainly affects the face, chest and back.

These two types of skin afflictions may vary in certain ways and have similarities in others, but they both definitely have an adverse effect on normal, healthy skin.
