  • Pimples & acne: Are they the same thing?

Acne can be defined as a skin disorder exhibiting itself in the form of pimples. Sometimes, acne is also referred as zits. Hence acne can be defined as the cause whereas pimples constitute its effect. If a person has one pimple, the person simply has a blocked pore, but if the person is prone to having multiple occurrences of pimples during different times, then the person actually has the skin disorder called acne. Hence a pimple can be defined as one infection of a single pore whereas acne is defined as many infections in various pores. Thus, pimples are separated from acne by the amount of blocked pores.

Acne is a common term; it can combine whiteheads, blackheads, pimples. In other words, Acne is just a lot of pimples together. Pimples are individual breakouts where as if you get a lot of them and they keep coming back, that is acne. There is no big difference between acne, pimples, and zits.
They are different words but they are almost the same thing with broad differences. Pimples are periodic but, acne is a chronic condition. If a person breaks out every so often, then it is pimples, but if that person stays broke out it is considered acne.
