Acne is the most common skin disorder everywhere in the world. Acnes problem not only affects teenagers but it affects adults too. According to a survey conducted by a American Research Institute, around 80% of adults from 20 to 30 years of age suffer from mild to moderate acne. About half of the women, irrespective of their age, suffer from acne. It is a very frustrating problem to any age group.

There are various reasons which cause acne in adults. These reasons range from hormonal factors to cosmetics. Even if you are an adult various hormones fluctuating in your body can cause acne. These hormones are Androgens which are released from adrenal glands, the testes and the ovaries. These hormones help in stimulating the sebaceous glands and in turn increasing the oil production and thus creating a skin which is more prone to acne.

Women are mostly affected by this type of acne onset. The other factor which is responsible for acne in adults is cosmetics. Various cosmetic products which have their base as oil cause the pores in skin to block and thus creating a condition of acne.
The other reason for acne in adults is the various types of medications used. Use of steroids, hormonal therapies, birth control treatments is the reasons for acne in adults. Consultation to the doctor is the first thing to do if the acne is caused by these medications.
