  • Acne Treatment using Isotretinoin

Isotretinoin is an oral remedy for acne. The original name of isotretinoin is accutane. At one time in the United States of America and the United Kingdom, accutane was reported to cause stress among patients who used it to cure acne. It is for such reasons that Isotretinoin is used as the last option in the treatment of acne. However, before you go ahead and dismiss it as a harmful drug, it is of paramount importance that we look at the side effects of the drug in detail.

Prolonged intake of Isotretinoin may result to one of the following; a possibility of giving birth to kids without hereditary traits and depression among users that can even result to suicide. The milder results of isotretinoin intake include the drying of your lips and mouth.

Despite isotretinoin causing such side effects, it is the only substance known to clear acne in a regular treatment. The duration of this treatment is 15 weeks. Since its popularity in the recent past has risen significantly, it is one of the drugs that are closely monitored in the United States. Consequently, it is therefore not possible to find it for sale over the counter.
