  • Acne Breakouts and Caffeine Intake

Acne and caffeine are closely linked. As caffeine is a stimulant, it can make your body react hyper. Along with, this is highly addictive and studies have found that caffeine addiction make women more vulnerable towards developing acne.

Caffeine is capable of triggering sebaceous glands of our body. As a result, secretion of sebum is increased. As a result, walls of follicles are ruptured and bump or blemish occurs at that place. Along with, caffeine can also trigger the secretion of stress hormones inside human body. Extra release of stress hormones has a direct and significant impact on the functions of sebaceous glands. However, till date there is no exact scientific proof related to caffeine consumption causing acne.

There are several misconceptions related to caffeine consumption. Medical studies have found that percentage of caffeine is more prevalent in many other decaffeinated foodstuffs than a mug of morning coffee. Food products that belong to this category are chocolates, ice creams, soda and chocolate pudding.
You need to avoid these food products to avail relief from any negative impact of caffeine on your skin. You can reduce chance of acne due to caffeine by consuming citrus foods and anti-acne diets like fish, poultry, whole grains.
